Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Bayview is a large private compound boardering Ipswich Bay with multiple residences, of which all are related extended family. The private beach is shared among relatives and invited visitors. It's a quiet family oriented compound with plenty of space between homes. This part of Gloucester is called Annisquam, a small village that hosts it's own yacht club. Across the street from the driveway is the historic Bayview Cemetery. Besides the private beach, Plum Cove Beach is just a short walk or ride down the street. Neighboring village Lanesville hosts it's own post office, a cafe with breakfast and lunch offerings and a convenience/package store. Nearby is Halibut Point State Park. The landscape at Halibut Point is comprised of 440-million-year-old slabs of granite that descend from a rocky headland to a craggy shoreline and provide a fantastic setting for a hike, run, or picnic. Both Gloucester and Rockport town centers are teeming with shops and top-notch restaurants. Plenty of opportunity to pick up fresh seafood - fish, oysters, scallops, lobsters.

The house and property were beautiful. It is right on the ocean and there's a little beach within a 5-minute walk. There are lots of beds/bedrooms and a nice living room to hang out. I am surprised it was one of the cheaper bnbs in the area because it was beautiful. Admittedly, the upstairs can get a bit drafty, but there are electric blankets hiding in the sheets. The listing says that there is no fire alarm, but we burnt some toast one morning and the alarm went off and asked if we needed fire services. Mark also called, I assume he got an alert. So the security system is great as well. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the Elegant Bayview Victorian Home! This house has so much history and the decor and furnishings bring you back into the 1800’s. An absolutely beautiful home, the bed we slept in was super comfortable (Tempurpedic foam), the house was fully stocked with coffee, tea, paper goods, has a fully stocked kitchen for cooking (every pan, utensil and spice you might need), there were hundreds of books to read, games, tennis rackets, kayaks, and more. We brought wood to make fires in the fire place, but there was actually wood there to purchase if you want. The grounds are lovely and there’s a path leading down to the beach that would be great in better weather. We had rain unfortunately, but the cozy fire made us forget about that. There are 6 bedrooms, they all looked great, lots of linens and extra blankets, sheets, and towels and the bathrooms had soap and shampoo in case you forgot yours. Super clean too. We’d go back again in a heartbeat!
